As electric vehicle (EV) adoption continues to grow in Singapore, many condominium residents are increasingly requesting access to EV charging facilities within their developments. To support this transition, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) introduced the Electric Vehicle Common Charger Grant (ECCG), helping Management Corporations (MCSTs) and EV Charging Operators reduce the upfront cost of installing EV chargers.
What is the EV Common Charger Grant (ECCG)?
The EV Common Charger Grant (ECCG) is a government co-funding scheme that supports the installation of shared EV chargers in non-landed private residences (NLPRs), such as condominiums and private apartments.
The grant is available until 31 December 2026 or until 3,500 chargers have been approved, whichever comes first. Applications are assessed on a first-come, first-served basis.
How Much Funding Can Condominiums Receive?
The ECCG co-funds 50% of eligible charger installation costs, including:
- EV charging equipment
- Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) fees
- Cabling and installation works (subject to applicable caps)
Funding caps are:
- Up to $4,000 per charger for the first 2,000 chargers approved
- Up to $3,000 per charger for the next 1,500 chargers approved
GST is not covered under the grant.
Which Properties Are Eligible?
The ECCG applies to:
- Condominiums
- Private apartments
- Other non-landed private residential developments
The following are not eligible:
- Landed properties
- Commercial buildings
- Industrial developments
- Hotels and serviced apartments
Chargers must be installed in common areas and be shared among residents.
How Many Chargers Can Be Supported?
Each development can receive grant support for chargers equivalent to up to 1% of its residential parking lots, rounded up to the nearest whole number.
For example:
- 70 parking lots = 1 eligible charger
- 140 parking lots = 2 eligible chargers
This approach allows more residential developments across Singapore to benefit from the grant.
Why MCSTs Should Act Now
The ECCG was originally intended to support 2,000 chargers but was expanded to 3,500 chargers due to strong demand. More than 500 residential developments have already benefited from the scheme, with approximately 1,700 chargers co-funded to date.
As EV ownership increases, developments that install charging facilities early can:
- Improve resident satisfaction
- Future-proof their property
- Increase attractiveness to potential buyers and tenants
- Avoid future installation bottlenecks
How to Apply for the ECCG
Applications are submitted through the Government Business Grants Portal (BGP).
Typical supporting documents include:
- AGM or EOGM resolution approving charger installation
- Technical installation details
- Agreement between the MCST and EV Charging Operator
- Required LTA forms and checklists
Grant reimbursement is made after installation and payment have been completed.
